ARC Planting Day - High Score 4000 !

Te Rau Puriri - 30 km up on South Head Road - Sunday 18 April and a host of Willing Workers manage to beat all the odds and plant 4,000 treelings in just 4 hours!

Peter Vahry (for the NZFWDA) organised several 4WD clubs to assist with planting up at this fabulous soon-to-be ARC park. ARC were. to say the least blown away by everyone's efforts.

We put in a great show of 10 vehicles and assorted trailers to join in with the rest of the volunteers. In fact, the ARC were so impressed with the NZFWDA assistance that "we" have been invited back later in the year to help dismantle deer fencing around the park (ex farm, donated to the peoples of Auckland region).

[FAB plus his little tender behind (ouch!) was in his element, proudly jouncing his way round the farm loaded with treelings and feeling in his original element]

Everyone had a great time it seemed and more photos (see below) will be on their way soon.

Brett Whyte sends his thanks to all who joined in and gave up their time for this special day.

PLUS: !!!

We had an alien LR visitor - At 5pm on the Saturday Neil received a call from Bill Lang, a Gallo-Canadian on holiday and keen to go Rovering... so at 6pm Neil drove to Waimauku, via the airport, to collect the aforementioned... Naturally Bill proved to be Jack-The-Lad and kept everyone hugely entertained with his encouraging chat while he, errmm, watched, plantmania in progress! He does have 6 million photos however and shortly we hope to have some here to show you. (Bill is already up and running on his 26 day Round NZ Tour).

He's hoping to visit and harass other unsuspecting LR Owners on his way round - Beware!

Bill hails from Manitoba but his 'home' club is Roverlanders in British Columbia ; They are watching his progress already.

[Here's Bill at the Holiday Inn, looking a little hot and bothered but very happy (who wouldn't after travelling in FAB all day!)]
